I've been slacking on pictures, so I have nothing new to show. But, everyone is doing great and I have no complaints to report. All our younger kids will be participating in the all-camp activity tonight which is basically a scavenger hunt around the whole camp. Boaters come back tomorrow! Tomorrow is the awesome all camp worship and Christ hike. First of all, let me tell you about my adventure out to the river boaters last night... The boaters are beached off the dock quite a bit. Jeff is the program director at camp and he had the idea to go out to have dinner with the high schoolers and then attend their night worship. Well, you can't quite drive across the water so how should we get there? Oh, how about take a flimsy canoe across a flooded mammoth river with an ornery current?!? Ok, great idea! What about the strong gusts of wind?!? Oh, I'm sure that'll make it more fun... Let's just say I purposefully left my phone in the car so I didn't have to fish it out of the river. We didn't fall in, surprisingly, although we did get turned around twice by the wind when it blew our boat back about ten feet. So-no pics... :( Anyway, all the boaters seem to be doing wonderfully. They have an awesome village and are led by many inspiring counselors. Since I didn't get a pic of all the kids yet today, I thought I would show some of the camp spots that are used by our kids while they're here. I'll catch up with the boaters tonight. Didn't get a pick of Erin or the 6th grade girls but they're all doing great! We're on the road! Ready and roaring to go! Sugar Creek Bible camp you ready for us? 2 weeks in a row I'm not scared! We are stopping in Rochester to use the bathroom. It is 4pm right now. That should put us back by 6. Expect us then!!! The kids are all excited to be home! But also sad it is over... Seekers- I scared all the seeker girls last night as they were trying to get to sleep by banging on their windows and doors and grunting outside... Their first thought was that it was a bear, but their second thought was that it was me... I don't know if I'm flattered or upset. All are doing well. Willie is in a cabin with two other guys and they're all getting along-- willie even changed his shirt finally!!! Yay!!! Wagoners- both boys are in their element. Nothing new to report-- lots of laughing and sweating! Discoverers and settlers got back from the river with many stories and lots of excitement. They had a great time and stayed safe through the storm. I joined them for their pool party yesterday and we had quite a time... I dunked every one of our girls multiple times which is completely against camp rules. Oops;) Jordan, Chloe, maya, Juney, Mollie, Annika, Gretchen, Stephanie are all loving it. River boaters- I had the chance to drive in to Lansing and meet the boaters for lunch. My friend Kerri and I ambushed them with water baloons once they got to the top of the bluff. Enjoy the pics Everyone is doing great!!!! Our seekers are hilarious, adorable, and wonderful. Well--- the boys are at least hilarious (willie is still wearing the same shirt). They have all relentlessly been having fun with me and calling me A-Per because they are the A cabin and everyone needs an A in their name! Our wagoneer boys (Gavin and jack) are having great fun. They're in a wagon with 3 other awesome young men and they all get along ad have a counselor that was a former camper of mine. Discoverers and settlers are out on the river still -- should be back this afternoon. I'm sure they had an interesting night with the storm!! Should be fun to hear. Boaters-- I'm on way to see them now-- will post pics when I have them. Everyone slept well last night. We had a couple homesick campers, but after a good night's sleep everyone seemed better this morning. I saw the boaters off this morning-- all three are fine and excited about the river. I didn't get a picture of them though. Tomorrow I should see them when they get into Lansing, IA. More later-- I'll take more pics as well. |
